How it works

Every figure has evidence. Every exception has a reason.

Invoices arrive by Peppol, email, photo or upload. Each one is read, checked against its own arithmetic and settled against your bank. What does not add up is not filed quietly — it waits for you, with the reason.

Ask

Ask your business.

Answers are derived from your confirmed records, with sources linked. When the records do not cover a question, Dokus says so rather than filling the gap.

  • Why did cash fall last month?
  • What am I spending more on?
  • Can I afford this hire?
  • What does next quarter look like?

Your accountant

Your accountant sees the same truth.

Confirmed records, the evidence behind each one, and nothing to reconstruct. Accountants get free read-only access; practices can follow their Dokus clients from a dedicated workspace, request what is missing and export what they need — without changing your records.

How we handle your data
Where processing happensWhere your documents are read
Reading, matching and classification run on infrastructure we operate in Belgium. Ask is the exception: the question you type, and the records needed to answer it, go to Anthropic, our model provider, under a data processing agreement. Nothing you send is used to train a model. The full terms are in the privacy policy.
If Ask is unavailableThe record keeps working
Capture, matching, Peppol and exports do not depend on it.
ExportabilityLeave with everything
Documents and data, in open formats, without asking us.

Support email is answered within the hour — every day, 08:00–20:00 CET, except Belgian public holidays and announced absences, never later than the same day — by the people who build Dokus.

What Dokus is, and what it is not

Dokus is Belgian invoicing and financial-record software for freelancers, sole traders and small companies. It sends and receives Peppol e-invoices, captures bills and receipts from email, upload or scan, matches them against your bank statements, and keeps one current record your accountant can file from. It sits before accounting rather than replacing it. Dokus is not open-source and there is no downloadable edition; it is a hosted service, with private deployment available on request. Documents are read and classified on infrastructure we operate in Belgium — the optional assistant is the exception: your question, and the records needed to answer it, go to a named external model provider under a data processing agreement, and are never used for training.

FAQ

Common questions.

Dokus keeps a Belgian company's finances current and legible. It captures documents, matches bank transactions, sends and receives Peppol invoices, and keeps your financial position visible: what happened, where you stand and what is coming. It brings you in only when a decision needs you.

No. Dokus sits before your accounting software. It collects and validates financial evidence, matches transactions and prepares a source-linked handoff. Your accountant remains responsible for booking decisions, VAT treatment and filing.

Accountants get free read-only access to your confirmed records and the evidence behind each one. Practices can follow their Dokus clients from a dedicated workspace, request what is missing and export what they need — without changing your records.

EU. Belgium-hosted. GDPR-compliant by design. Your documents are never used to train models. Ask is the one part that reaches outside: it uses Anthropic as our model provider, under a data processing agreement, and only for the question you ask.

Receiving Peppol invoices is unlimited on every plan, including Free. Sending is five a month on Free and unlimited on Core, which also sends confirmed invoices without being asked. Since January 2026, in-scope Belgian B2B invoices must be structured electronic invoices, with Peppol BIS as the standard channel.
